Arca’s commitment to act based on a high level of social responsibility to its community has made it possible for this company to maintain firm programs and actions directed to encouraging healthy lifestyles, and to provide support for educational, social welfare and health organizations, in addition to preserving the environment.
In this sense, Embotelladoras Arca, the second largest bottling company for Coca-Cola products in Mexico and Latin America, which has been recognized for the 6th consecutive year as a Socially-Responsible Company, joins Coca-Cola’s global concept of Living Positively, components of which are a commitment to business sustainability and seven fundamental pillars for sustainable growth, including: benefits of the beverages; active and healthy lifestyles; communities; workplace; climate; sustainable packaging; and water.
One of Arca’s Social Responsibility programs—which stands out because of the value of its accomplishments—is Arca Volunteering, which won the distinction of being the Best Socially- Responsible Practice according to the CEMEFI (Mexican Philanthropy Center) and enjoyed the participation of nearly 2,000 volunteers for the Annual Volunteering Day in 2008.
Just like last year, the main activity of the Arca Annual Volunteering Day was reforestation, under the main motto, “Plant a Tree and Harvest Water.” It’s worth noting that the 2,500 collaborators together with their families planted more than 14,000 trees in different areas, which will favor the flow of water into basins and rivers. An example of this was the reforestation of 19 hectares of the Sierra Zapalinamé—of the El Cristal common lands in Coahuila state—, which took place on October 10th.
Francisco Garza Egloff, CEO of Embotelladoras Arca, was grateful for the important work carried out by all of his collaborators from the different companies, especially because of the enthusiasm and solidarity shown.
“Arca Annual Volunteering Day strengthens our values, our thinking, and above all what we are and how we proceed. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the collaborators for their commitment to the environment, to the community and to the region, and above all to our country, Mexico,” said Garza Egloff.
Other activities throughout the Arca territories included reforestation of public parks and plazas, and taking advantage of the opportunity to carry out tasks such as cleaning and painting benches and sports fields.
