Arca Bottling Company Begins the Program “Schools in Motion”

Juarez City, Chihuahua, Mexico, 15 of April 2010- As part of its Social Responsibility programs, ARCA, in alliance with the Education and Culture Ministry of Chihuahua, began the program “Schools in Motion” with the purpose of encouraging physical activity, sports and good eating habits among students of public schools in Chihuahua.

With the attendance of the State’s Governor, José Reyes Baeza Terrazas, as guest of honor and in presence of several State authorities and members of ARCA, the opening ceremony of “Schools in Motion” took place today in the elementary school México Lealtad, located in the Infonavit District, one of the 23 centers where the program “Schools in Motion” will be implemented throughout this year.

“As part of Arca’s Social Responsibility initiatives, we emphasize our constant orientation towards promoting a culture of active and healthy lifestyles which can contribute to build healthy and sustainable communities where we establish alliances and foster mutual benefits”, said Leonel Cruz Martinez, Director of Human Capital and Quality.

“Schools in Motion” represents a fundamental initiative within this effort, as it essentially tries to transmit to children the importance of reinforcing and practicing a healthy and active life style”, added Arca’s Directive.

The program “Schools in Motion” includes three fundamental platforms for its implementation:
Refurbishment of sports areas
- Establishing multidisciplinary areas that promote the practice of the different sports and physical education programs.
Promote sports and physical activities.
- Support local initiatives and programs that focus on promoting physical activity as a life style.
Promoting healthy eating habits
- Contribute in the creation of awareness within the students and the parents about the importance of healthy eating habits.
In addition to this program, Arca is committed to the constant promotion of sports and physical activities, pointing out the Monterrey’s Powerade Marathon, Coca-Cola Soccer Cup and the active participation in the National Agreement Towards Physical Activity implanted by the National Committee of Physical Culture and Sports; CONADE.
